Testimonials

'Mel's sessions are immensely enjoyable, her open and warm approach is engaging and supportive. I have seen the results in myself and others in a surprisingly short space of time'.
'Mel provides space for exploration, reflection and discussion'.

Ashling Findlay-Carroll,
Acting and Performance Lecturer

Our company, Roaring Voices, is a youth theatre that falls under the umbrella of the Nurture Culture Education programme, at the Teatru Salesjan in Malta. We have produced 4 performances so far (including a film). Mel has tutored our cast members in voice for each production, and each year we look forward to welcoming her into our company. Through exercises on the body, Mel has helped the Roaring Voices cast find their voice, using her expertise, positive and encouraging approach.

'About ten days ago some of the Tightlacers had the privilege of doing a workshop with Mel Drake. Let me start by saying it was fantastic. Mel's work follows the techniques developed by Nadine George of Voice Studio International. It's amazing stuff'.
Jen McGregor Tightlaced Theatre

'Mel is an exceptional voice teacher. She gives fully of herself to all her students and has the ability to inspire and empower each one. Her sense of love and commitment to the work shines through all she does, and her methods are truly holistic. In a session with her not only does one learn a great deal of real value, but also one ends up feeling truly amazing.'

Bernard King, former lecturer
Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama

'You will get a professional service and learn in a very relaxed and supportive environment. Mel starts from where you are and takes you through stages which lead to change'.

Nerissa Housen College Lecturer

As Director of Roaring Voices, Malta's Young Shakespeare Company, it has been my pleasure to have Mel Drake lead the company in discovering their true vocal potential, through her one to one and group sessions

We had the privilege of having her attend in person for our first two productions, at Teatru Salesjan, Two Gentlemen of Verona followed by Two Noble Kinsmen.

Through the Covid lockdown, we created a devised film, IN ARDEN, or Shakespeare Transformed, and most recently, The Rover, by Aphra Behn.

Whether working in person or online, Mel creates a bond of trust and respect with the young company, and seeing them grow and develop their own, true, Roaring Voice has been a delight. I never cease to be astonished at how much she manages to uncover and extend their range and confidence.

Her vocal work is meticulous, well researched, with many exercises being passed on to the company, for their use in the future.

We are indeed very lucky to have had Mel with us, both in person and on Zoom, and look forward to more collaborations in the future.
